Guilford Books & Prints has been a cultural landmark on the picturesque Guilford Green since 1978, when founder Margaret Leete transformed a Colonial-era saltbox into a space where literature and visual art coexist in harmony. The ground floor houses a carefully curated selection of literary fiction, poetry, and Connecticut history, while rotating exhibitions of original prints, watercolors, and photographs line the walls. Upstairs, a rare-books room contains antiquarian volumes on New England history, some dating back to the 18th century. The store collaborates with the Guilford Art Center and Shoreline Arts Alliance to present joint exhibitions and author-artist dialogues throughout the year.
