Courthouse Books

Courthouse Books has been a pillar of Media's walkable downtown since 2011, bringing a community-centered approach to bookselling that has made it indispensable to families throughout Delaware County. Owner Patricia Okonkwo, a former elementary school librarian, built the store around the conviction that every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the books they read, and the children's section showcases an extraordinary range of voices and perspectives. The bright, welcoming interior features low shelves accessible to young readers, a colorful storytime area, and a YA section that teens helped design themselves. Adult fiction and nonfiction are thoughtfully curated as well, with a focus on contemporary voices and book club favorites. The store partners with over a dozen local schools for author visits and reading programs, making it a true community institution.
