Cold Spring Bibliotheca

Cold Spring Bibliotheca opened in 2018 in this tiny but vibrant village on the east bank of the Hudson, right where the river cuts through the dramatic scenery of the Hudson Highlands. The store was founded by two former park rangers, Kevin Walsh and Amy Torres, who wanted to create a space where a love of books and a love of the outdoors could coexist. The nature and outdoor section is superb, covering everything from field guides and trail maps to literary nature writing and environmental science. A back patio with Adirondack chairs and views of the surrounding hills provides one of the most pleasant reading spots in the Hudson Valley. The store has become a must-visit stop for the thousands of hikers who come to Cold Spring each weekend to tackle Breakneck Ridge and other nearby trails, many of whom pick up a book and a coffee before catching the Metro-North train back to the city.
