Agave & Ink brings a design-forward sensibility to Scottsdale's thriving arts scene, occupying a minimalist space where whitewashed walls and desert landscaping create a gallery-like atmosphere for browsing books. Founded in 2017 by a husband-and-wife team, one an architect and the other a literary agent, the store reflects their shared belief that beautiful books and beautiful spaces enhance each other. The art and architecture section is among the best in the Phoenix metro area, with monographs on desert modernism, Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West, and contemporary Southwestern design. A rotating gallery wall showcases work by Arizona-based visual artists, with opening receptions that double as book launch parties. The contemporary fiction selection is sharply curated, favoring literary novels with strong visual and spatial sensibilities. The cafe serves specialty drinks inspired by desert botanicals, including a signature agave latte that has become an Instagram sensation.
